Amentum and Archway Aviation complete Lion Air S&LB transaction
Dublin, September 16, 2014 – Amentum, the Dublin based commercial aircraft leasing company, announces that it has arranged the acquisition of two factory new 737-900ER aircraft for investor customer Archway Aviation (an Irish based operating lessor) in a sale & lease back transaction with Lion Air. The first aircraft (MSN 39880) was delivered on September 15. The second aircraft (MSN 39878) will be delivered later this month. Both aircraft are funded with commercial debt and are subject to long-term leases to the airline group’s main Indonesian carrier Lion Air.
Commenting, John Duffy, COO of Lion Air Group’s affiliated leasing company: “Amentum was one of our first lessors and remains a strong supporter of the Lion Air Group. We are delighted to close additional aircraft now with Amentum and welcome the fresh sources of capital they have arranged.”
Simon Clements, Head of Sales of Amentum, commented: “Archway Aviation is a long-term relationship customer of Amentum. We greatly appreciate their continuing trust in our platform and are delighted to further grow our portfolio of aircraft managed for Archway Aviation with these two 737-900ERs.”
Mitchel Simpson, CFO of Amentum, added: “Amentum completed its first Lion Air deal in 2007 and we are delighted to facilitate Transportation Partners and Lion Air with their fleet financing requirements again. With the delivery of the two aircraft in September, Amentum manages six aircraft on lease to Lion Air for three different investor customers. This transaction is a good showcase of our third party aircraft management business model: our investor customers benefiting from the aircraft sourcing, structuring and management capabilities of our platform, while our airline customers finance a large number of aircraft through a single channel.”
